Moroni was shown our
day. He
warns us about the unbelief, pride, iniquities, love of money and
neglecting
the poor that will be among us. The lack of faith, the pollution of
the “holy
church of God,” and refusing to take upon us the name of Christ. Do we
see
these problems among us today?
Moroni 7:33-38
33
And
Christ hath said: If ye will have faith in me ye shall have power to
do
whatsoever thing is expedient in me.
34
And
he hath said: Repent all ye ends of the earth, and come unto me, and
be
baptized in my name, and have faith in me, that ye may be saved.
35
And
now, my beloved brethren, if this be the case that these things are
true
which I have spoken unto you, and God will show unto you, with power
and great
glory at the last day, that they are true, and if they are true has
the day of
miracles ceased?
36
Or
have angels ceased to appear
unto the
children of men? Or has he withheld the power of the Holy Ghost
from them?
Or will he, so long as time shall last, or the earth shall stand, or
there
shall be one man upon the face thereof to be saved?
37
Behold
I say unto you, Nay; for it is
by
faith that miracles are wrought; and it is by faith that angels
appear and
minister unto men; wherefore, if
these
things have ceased wo be unto the children of men, for it is because
of
unbelief, and all is vain.
38
For
no man can be saved, according to the words of Christ, save they shall
have
faith in his name; wherefore,
if these
things have ceased, then has faith ceased also; and awful is the
state of man,
for they are as though there had been no redemption made.
Mormon 8:34-39
34
Behold,
the Lord hath shown unto me great and marvelous things concerning that
which must shortly come, at that day when these things shall come
forth among
you.
35
Behold,
I speak unto you as if ye were present, and yet ye are not. But
behold,
Jesus Christ hath shown you
unto me, and
I know your doing.
36
And
I know that ye do walk in the pride of your hearts; and there
are
none save a few only who do not lift themselves up in the pride of
their
hearts, unto the wearing of very fine apparel, unto envying,
and
strifes, and malice, and persecutions, and all manner of iniquities;
and
your churches, yea, even every
one, have
become polluted because of the pride of your hearts.
37
For
behold, ye do love money, and your substance, and your fine
apparel,
and the adorning of your churches, more than ye love the poor and the
needy,
the sick and the afflicted.
38
O
ye pollutions, ye hypocrites, ye teachers, who sell yourselves for
that which
will canker, why have ye polluted the
holy
church of God? Why are ye ashamed to take upon you the
name of
Christ? Why do ye not think that greater is the value of an
endless
happiness than that misery which never dies—because of the praise of
the world?
39
Why
do ye adorn yourselves with that which hath no life, and yet
suffer the
hungry, and the needy, and the naked, and the sick and the afflicted
to pass by
you, and notice them not?
What did the Father command
Jesus to tell us?
10 And thus commandeth the Father that I should say unto you: At that day when the Gentiles shall sin against my gospel, and shall reject the fulness of my gospel, and shall be lifted up in the pride of their hearts above all nations, and above all the people of the whole earth, and shall be filled with all manner of lyings, and of deceits, and of mischiefs, and all manner of hypocrisy, and murders [see Alma 36:14], and priestcrafts, and whoredoms, and of secret abominations; and if they shall do all those things, and shall reject the fulness of my gospel, behold, saith the Father, I will bring the fulness of my gospel from among them.
